Features Files

fMaps Features Files are sets of points or areas that may be used to augment an fPanels dashboard map panel. There are two ways that a features file may be used:

  • As a map overlay - to show areas on your map such as regions or wards, optionally selectable
  • As a features - to add reference points or areas on a map, such as schools or branch offices

Features files contain data for each feature (area /point) and can also be used as a data source in an fData DSD and as the data for an fPanels Map panel.

Features File List

The list of all features files shows each that has been added, indicating its content (points or areas) whether map details have been added and whether it is appropriate as an overlay and/or features.

From this page you can import a features file from another system by selecting the file to be imported.

You can also start a new features file from scratch from here.

New Features File

Select whether the features file will contain points or areas. A file should be one or the other, although multiple features files may used to add features to a dashboard map.

Give the features file a name and an alias.

Optionally you can upload a GeoJson file to create the features and their properties (to be edited at the next stage). GeoJson files are an industry standard format of geographical file.
