Menus

In order to present fPanels dashboards and fDocs / fSheets documents to your users, fSeries provides a Menu designer. Structured menus can be built to include direct links to these entities or groups of entities based on index labels, as well as other options such as external links.

Menus may be presented to users in three different ways:

  • side menu which slides in from the left when the menu icon is clicked
  • top menu, incorporated into the banner at the top of public pages
  • main menu, as a page showing the menu options in the body of the page

A menu may have a DSD associated which gathers data for the “subject” of the menu (e.g. a client or a product). Data from the subject may then be included in the menu display.

For efficiency, generated menus are cached in the database. This prevents the need for the menu to be built every time its associated pages are displayed. fSeries manages the cache automatically.

Please note that because menus are cached it is recommended that the audit log is not used in the “subject” DSD, as it will only be logged the first time the menu is displayed and will give an inaccurate picture of a user's activity.

On opening Menus a list of all Menus is shown.

The Status column (flag icon) indicates not yet published (red), published but also changes are in progress (amber) and published (green).

The Lock column (padlock icon) indicates whether the item is locked for designing or not. If the padlock is red it is locked by another user; if green, it is locked by you.

A text search option is provided at the top of the page as well as a filter option to narrow down the list to those with which you have had an involvement and also search by index label.

Click on an item to view its details and take further actions.
