Notification Data Group Settings

A notification data group is used to send an email to one or more recipients as a notification based on contents of the data gathered in the DSD. For example, if a measure falls below a certain level, email the manager.

The data group acts like all others but only sends an email when running in live operation from an entity (dashboard, fDocs/fSheets template or menu). All other executions of a DSD and all test runs will not send an email. However, if you test run and email or dashboard and link on to another entity it is considered live running and will send resulting emails.

Emails are sent immediately using the fSeries email settings, together with the settings detailed below.

The data group returns a single row with the details of the email, whether sent or not. This may be used in documents and dashboards to show that an email was sent as a result of generating the output.

All settings permit the use of placeholders.
