Overlays are used to apply borders to a map, optionally with light shaded colouring. You can add multiple overlays to a single map so that the user can switch the borders of the map to see different aspects (e.g. regions, counties, political boundaries). The example above shows the key to the overlay areas and by running their mouse over the list of the map, the corresponding area/item is highlighted.
The title of the areas list is “Areas” by default but you can override this with the Overlays Title.
The page show the list of overlays for the map. This may include the [No Overlays] overlay that lets the user clear the map of any overlay borders.
Click on an overlay or “New Overlay” to add a new overlay. Each overlay has the following settings:
If there is only one overlay it will be used automatically, otherwise drag and drop the overlays in the list to indicate the order in which they are listed in the select list in the map. The first in the list will be the overlay used in the initial display.
If there is at least one overlay, a Map Overlays panel may be added to the dashboard to allow the user to filter map points by their location within overlay areas.
